NanoSQUID-on-tip (work in progress)
The SQUID-on-tip (SOT) is an extremely sensitive magnetometer providing record magnetic sensitivity and allows the study of a wide range of nanoscale magnetic phenomena (example 1 example 2. In addition to being a very sensitive nano-magnetometer, the SOT also acts as an excellent nano-thermometer providing cryogenic thermal microscopy with sensitivity below 1 uK/Hz1/2 at 4.2 K. For instance, the SOT allows the visualization of minute amounts of heat emitted by a single atomic defect due to inelastic scattering of electrons in monolayer graphene, even in the quantum Hall regime.
We are currently building such a system to explore non-Fourier heat propagation. If you are interested in these questions and would like to join the lab for an internship, don’t hesitate to contact .
